All our courses are taught online and have complementary audiovisual material. In addition, the cooperative has prepared supporting notes for each of the courses.
The teaching methodology combines two methods:- Learning by listening, reading and writing; many sounds in the Mayan language are foreign to the Romance languages and English. These might be:
- Resonant: nasal, lateral and approximate.
- Obstructors: fricatives, stops and affricates. In addition, there is a contrast in the glottalised deaf and deaf sounds, cf. [1] .
- Gradual grammar study.
- The Mayan grammar differs from the Indo-European languages grammar. Here, we have classifiers, indicators , different ways of conjugating; a different language rich in forms and manners.
