Maaya K-Moots offers Mayan language courses for students at levels:
  1. Basic,
  2. beginner,
  3. intermediate,
  4. advanced.

All our courses are taught online and have complementary audiovisual material. In addition, the cooperative has prepared supporting notes for each of the courses.

The teaching methodology combines two methods:
  1. Learning by listening, reading and writing; many sounds in the Mayan language are foreign to the Romance languages and English. These might be:
    • Resonant: nasal, lateral and approximate.
    • Obstructors: fricatives, stops and affricates. In addition, there is a contrast in the glottalised deaf and deaf sounds, cf. [1] .
  2. Gradual grammar study.
    • The Mayan grammar differs from the Indo-European languages grammar. Here, we have classifiers, indicators , different ways of conjugating; a different language rich in forms and manners.
For all the above, Maaya K-Moots courses are designed so students have time to learn to differentiate between different sounds, spelling, verbal times, forms and the logic of the language!
